Abstract submission
- The abstract must not exceed 300 words.
- Use Times New Roman, 12 pt.
- The title must be in bold, with only the first word and proper nouns capitalized.
- Provide the full names of all authors.
- Indicate the authors’ institutional affiliations.
- Underline the name of the presenting author.
- The abstract should be submitted as a single paragraph.
- Do not include references, tables, or figures.
- The abstract should be uploaded in an editable text format (e.g., .doc, .docx, .odt), not as a PDF.
- Name the file using the surname of the first author

Travel Awards
The Willi Hennig Society offers several awards to facilitate the participation of students, recent postdoctoral researchers, early-career scientists, and attendees requiring childcare support in the Annual Hennig Meeting.
There are four award categories:
Marie Stopes Award
This award is intended for students and recent postdoctoral researchers travelling from within the continent where the meeting takes place. For the 2026 meeting, this category applies to applicants travelling from within South America. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or must have defended their Ph.D. within the three calendar years preceding the year of the meeting. Applicants must present either an oral presentation or a poster at the meeting.
Award amount: USD 800
Maximum number of awards: 14
Kurt Milton Pickett Intercontinental Award
This award is intended for students and recent postdoctoral researchers travelling from outside the continent where the meeting takes place. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or must have defended their Ph.D. within the three calendar years preceding the year of the meeting. Applicants must present either an oral presentation or a poster at the meeting.

Early Career Travel Award

Child Care Meeting Award
This award provides childcare support for attendees who give an oral presentation at the Annual Hennig Meeting. The funds may be used to help cover travel expenses associated with childcare needs or the cost of on-site childcare at the meeting venue.
Maximum award amount: USD 1,500
Priority will be given to those attending the workshops
Complete applications consist of a CV, a travel budget to justify the proposed expenses, and a title and outline of the project to be presented (not to exceed 500 words) at the meeting. Furthermore, applicants need to arrange for their principal advisor to certify their current status (student or postdoc). Child care meeting award application must also include a summary explaining their need for childcare support.

Methods and Perspectives in Systematics

Methods and Perspectives in Systematics brings together contributions addressing methodological and conceptual developments in taxonomy and phylogenetics. We welcome new methods, analytical workflows, conceptual perspectives and frameworks, as well as critical evaluations of existing approaches, such as their performance, strengths, limitations, and biases. This symposium aims to explore how such developments shape the ways we investigate, delimit, identify, classify, and understand biodiversity.
Evolutionary History through the lens of Genomes

Evolutionary History through the Lens of Genomes focuses on what genome-scale data can reveal about evolution at multiple levels. The symposium welcomes studies using genomes, transcriptomes, protein evolution, comparative genomics, phylogenomics, and work linking genomic change with phenotypic and morphological evolution.
Phylogenetic Analysis of Fossil Taxa

Phylogenetic Analysis of Fossil Taxa focuses on phylogenetic studies centered on fossil taxa, including their relationships, placement, and evolutionary history. Contributions presenting methodological developments for the phylogenetic analysis of fossils are also welcome.
